Starting the working day with something left

Some people arrive each day with something to give. Some arrive already behind. This is the first part of employee capacity.

What shapes it: sleep, health and stamina, the day before, and how the working day before ended. The work counts too: a day that ends late and starts early leaves less.

What a manager can see: not a person's sleep or health, and a manager should not try. A team result can show whether many people report arriving with little, which points to the working week, not to any one person.

What a team can change: the end of the day, the start of the day, and how often the two overlap.

Part 1 of 4. Next: Time to recover
